Follow the steps to get your desired result:
- Place the board in the position in which it will be screwed or onto the other board. By using a marker or with the help of a pencil point out the location of the screw.
- Take the drill and place it over the chuck of an electric drill and then tight the chuck. Make sure that the bit is of the same diameter as that of the screw’s shaft. Now drill a hole into the board and part way through a stud or on another board. Then remove the drill bit and place either a screwdriver bit or the Phillips.
- Set the chuck clutch of the drill not too low or high in medium position. The clutch itself would be released once the screw drives completely through the hole. This method prevents the screw head from stripping once you have done with your work.
- For the sake of driving a screw into the hardwood place such as walnut or maple wood use a soap bar or a wax candle. The candle or wax helps to lubricate the area thus making it easy to drive the screw.
- Now take the screw in the hole and press it inside so that it sits into the proper position. Some screw does not sit idly straight into the hole for those you need to spin it few rounds so that it properly adjust into the hole. Then place the screwdriver nicely onto the head of the screw.
- By using a drill slowly screw it into the pilot hole. Your main focus should be on keeping the studs aligned or if you are using another board to ensure that both the boards should be line up together for the sake of proper screwing.
- You may adjust the clutch of the drill to a higher setting only if you find that it releases even before the screw flushes entirely.
- After finishing the work, if you find any space between the boards takes the crew out. Make the pilot hole of the first board a bit large using a larger drill bit. Then place the new screw by pressing the drill handle. When the screw bits into either the inward stud or the board, it would pull both the boards together with strong hand.
